Bart Ballard was raised in Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology from Iowa State University in 1990, his Masters of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Texas A&I University in 1993, and his Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from Texas A&M University–Kingsville and Texas A&M University in 2001.
Bart has worked with the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute since 1993 on avian research, primarily migratory game birds. His research interests focus on waterfowl and other wetland birds. Bart is married to Yolanda, and has a 6–year old son, Derek. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, dog training, fishing, and camping with his son.
