Susan Cooper is an assistant professor with a joint appointment between the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute (25%) and Texas Agricultural Experiment Station (75%). She joined the Institute in 2002.
Susan received her Bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), Master's degree in Ecology from Aberdeen University (UK) and Ph.D. in Ecology from University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). Before coming to Texas Susan conducted research on foraging ecology of ungulates in Scotland and South Africa, and studied spotted hyenas in Botswana and Kenya. Her current research interests focus on the effects of land management practices on populations of white-tailed deer, feral hogs, bobwhite quail and non-game animals.
Her hobbies include bird watching, nature photography and travel.
