Thomas Langschied, M.S.

Coordinator, South Texas Wintering Birds Program

 

Tom is a research scientist at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Science from Purdue University in 1988 and his Masters of Science degree in Range and Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University –Kingsville in 1994. 

Tom began his work with the CKWRI as a research associate in 1994, focusing on avian research, primarily non-game birds and then in the fall of 1994 began working for King Ranch.  His work at King Ranch involved developing and leading a world class nature tour program.  In the summer of 2005, Tom rejoined the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute as a research associate to coordinate the South Texas Wintering Birds Program, a citizen science project. 

Tom is married to Nancy, and has a 10 year old daughter, Heidi and a 7 year old son, David.  Outside of work, he enjoys spending time bird, butterfly, and dragonfly watching, hunting, and being an involved parent.
