The Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, a nonprofit organization, depends upon charitable donations to support its work. The Institute welcomes new, renewing, and continuing support of individual, corporate, and foundation partners. By making a tax deductible contribution to the Institute, you will help us continue providing science-based information for enhancing the conservation and management of wildlife in South Texas and similar environments. Gifts to the Institute of all sizes are welcome and appreciated. Gifts of cash and securities may be made year round to support the Institute operations, special research projects, and/or and endowment fund. The Institute also welcomes planned estate gifts. South Texas is the last great expanse of wildlife habitat remaining in Texas, and one of the most biological diverse regions in the nation. This rich ecosystem deserves our full support and we invite you to join us as we make every effort to conserve and manage our precious natural resources.

Donors receive the Institute's annual report and quarterly newsletters unless otherwise specified. If you wish to pledge a gift over time, we are happy to provide reminders upon request. Donor names appear periodically in Institute publications. Please complete your form or personal letter with this in mind, so we may list you correctly in our publications. Please also inform us if you wish to remain anonymous.
The Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute receives less than 25% of its annual operational funding from the state of Texas. Donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations make up the balance each year. Unrestricted donations to the Institute are among the most important that can be made, as they allow the Director to place the funds where the need is greatest.
Financial support for specific wildlife or habitat research projects of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute is an on-going need.
The Institute has established 7 restricted funds to sustain its research activities in perpetuity and to provide stable funding for Institute operations. In addition, the Institute continues to seek funds for the five primary areas in need including, birds of prey; migratory birds; wetlands and waterfowl; wild cats; and habitat restoration and management. Other endowments of need include the general operational endowment; Wildlife Research Technologies Laboratory endowment; an endowment for the study of wildlife health; the publications and outreach program endowment; and the Visiting Scientist Program endowment.

Funding is being sought for the 35-acre Tio and Janell Kleberg Wildlife Research Park to construct a captive facility for carnivore research. Wildlife Research Park pledges can also be made to support existing facilities that include the Leach Research Aviary, Temple Pathology Laboratory, Alkek Ungulate Research Facility, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center, and South Texas Natives Research Farm. Each gift is tailored to the donor, and gifts of $100,000 or more may be named.
The Institute is also seeking funds to support other facilities and laboratories that are essential for conducting research. These facilities include the Wildlife Research Technologies Laboratory, Molecular Ecology Laboratory, Wildlife Habitat Laboratory, and Val Lehmann Research Laboratory.
A list of campaign donors may be viewed with the below link.
Donations may be made to honor an individual, family, company or foundation. Please specify your request in a letter, so we may acknowledge and properly inform all parties.
Remembering the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute in your Will and estate plans is a wonderful way to make a gift of lasting significance. By creating a Will, certain estate taxes can be avoided. Please consult your attorney or accountant for details. The Institute welcomes bequests from donors who specify in their Wills that a specific dollar amount or percentage of the estate be set aside for the Institute, or that the Institute receive the residual estate after heirs and friends have received specific bequests. Unless otherwise specified, the Institute prefers to create endowed funds (permanently invested funds from which regular annual income is accrued), with bequests of $100,000 or more.
Thank you for making a gift to the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute.
By supporting our work, you will help us fulfill the legacy of Caesar Kleberg and continue providing science-based knowledge for enhancing the conservation and management of wildlife in South Texas and similar environments.
