The primary research question has two parts. First, “what are the ecological mechanisms and processes underlying vegetation dynamics and wildlife productivity and diversity in semiarid lands?” Secondly, but no less important is the question: “how can theory based on an understanding of these mechanisms and processes be used to improve or restore wildlife habitat and ecosystem productivity?”
