Position Title: | Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistantship |
Description: | The successful applicant will conduct research focusing on the transmission dynamics of infectious disease agents within northern bobwhite populations in South Texas. Successful applicant will be enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Wildlife Science within the Department of Animal and Wildlife Sciences at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in conjunction with the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. |
Qualifications: | M.S. degree in biology, wildlife, ecology, parasitology, or a related field, minimum 3.0 GPA, and competitive GRE scores. Additionally, the successful applicant must be capable of collecting biological samples under adverse field conditions (hot humid South Texas environment) and performing necropsies under field and laboratory conditions. Good speaking and writing skills, ability to work well with others, and ability to work independently are essential. |
Salary: | $1,600/month plus benefits (TAMUK Presidential Scholarship provides partial funding for up to 2 years; 3rd and 4th years contingent upon successful external grant funding), plus benefits package (medical package has a 90 day waiting period), and waiver of out-of-state tuition (resident tuition fees apply). |
Start Date: | begins 1 September 2010, contingent upon final approval of funding from the TAMUK Presidential Scholarship. |
