False rhodesgrass is a warm season, perennial bunchgrass found on clay, clay loam, and tight sandy loam range sites in eastern South Texas. This grass has excellent forage value to livestock and wildlife and provides good nesting cover to ground nesting birds. Kinney false rhodesgrass is a select release of this species that is commercially available for planting in South Texas.
