Guayacan
(Guajacum angustifolium)
Guayacan is a minor component commonly found in mixed-brush chaparral throughout the Rio Grande Plains, southern Edwards Plateau, and Trans-Pecos. Guayacan is an important browse plant for white-tailed deer and is a limited food source for birds. The leaves contain 16 to 18 percent crude protein.
