(Aristida purpurea var. wrightii)

Wrights Threeawn is an early succesional invader plant on sandy ecological sites in south Texas. It has poor forage value for livestock, but may provide nesting habitat for ground nesting birds on overgrazed lands. Development or commercialization of Wrights Threeawn for restoration use is hampered by the long awns extending from the seeds.
