Ben Wallace was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up hunting, fishing, and playing competitive golf while living in Corpus Christi. After graduation, he went to Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration and then a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from their School of Law. After practicing law in the family law firm of Wallace and Wallace, he went into the real estate business. Ben serves as President and Chairman of Shell Land Management Company, a family-owned business that oversees and operates real estate holdings and primarily develops land for commercial and residential subdivisions in South Texas. He’s been on the Board of Directors of American Bank since 1984, except when he served as general counsel from 1990-1995, and now serves as Chairman of the board. He is also Vice-Chairman and Executive Vice President of American Bank Holding Company, and on the Board of Directors for Borden Insurance. He’s been active in local, regional, state, and national conservation charities since 1979. He served as Vice President and Convention Chair of the Corpus Christi Chapter of GCCA (now CCA) and was on the Texas State Board of GCCA. He then became involved in the Boone and Crockett Club, where he is a lifetime associate and regular member. He served as convention chair, Vice President of Administration, Executive Vice President, President, and is serving as Chair of Corporate Governance, Advisory Director, and Official Measurer. Ben is also active in the Pope and Young Club where he is a lifetime associate member and senior member. He is a member of Texas Wildlife Association, International Game and Fish Association, National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, Dallas Safari Club, Port Aransas Rod & Reel Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited. He is also a member of the Texas Tech President’s Council, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) President’s Council, and Vice President and Board member of TAMUCC Foundation. Ben and his wife Patt, oversee the operations of their Macabi Ranch in South Texas and Prade Ranch in the Hill Country. They continue to enjoy hunting and fishing all over the world. They have two children – a daughter, Tricia Wallace, and a son Ben Wallace, Jr, and his wife Amy. They have also been blessed with two grandchildren Claire Wallace and Ben “Tripp” Wallace, III.
