John Herschberger was born and raised Amish until the age of eight, when his family left the community. He was born in Iowa, but moved to Beeville, Texas at an early age. With an agriculture background and a love of the outdoors, he attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he obtained both his bachelor and master’s in Range and Wildlife Management, graduating in the Fall of 2023 with a thesis in Drought-legacy effect on Bobwhite quail in Texas. Throughout his time in college, John assisted with several research projects which included Ocelot and Montezuma quail research.
With an agricultural background and a range and wildlife degree, John is eager to begin and learn more as a Research Associate for TNS. His love and understanding of plants first began when he took his Rangelands plants class for his bachelor’s degree. He enjoys continuing to learn about new plants and growing his plant ID skills, as well as spending time outdoors in nature. In his free time, John loves spending time outdoors and working on wood projects.
