Southwestern Bristlegrass is a widespread native bunchgrass found throughout South Texas. It frequently grows in riparian corridors and in the understory of mixed brush communities along ramaderos and drainages across the region. Southwestern Bristlegrass is good forage for livestock and produces seed desired by many wildlife species. The PMC is currently working on developing a germplasm of this species for restoration use.
